Melocactus Matanzanus

Height: 9-10cm

Width: 10cm

The melocactus, often known as the Turk's cap cactus, often gets confused with having a flower at the top the plant in orange. This however is called a cephalium, which is a dense mass of areoles that form a bizarre, bristly "cap" directly on top of the stem. From this part of the cacti is where the flowers will be produced. These are tiny purple/pink flowers that fill the cephalium in rings when in bloom. Provide the plant bright light and water only once the soil is completely dry, which is often every two weeks.

If purchased, the plant recived will be of similar but not exact size and shape.
